Years of Rich History
People of Kadayal were living in the hills and terrain beyond the Kodayar river for many years. The main occupation of the people was Tapiaco planting, harvesting, drying and selling. Most of the people were hard working and low income earners. They were having very strong faith in God. Reverent sisters from Kulasekaram and Palliady came among these people. Seeing the misery caused by contagious diseases the sisters helped them to get cured. The family members of the sick person abandoned them fearing that they may be affected. But the sisters courageously visited them and healed them. That opened the way for the people to know about Christ. They also had quarrel, disrespect and ill-treatment from among the same religion they were practicing. Hence, the people one by one started to follow and worship Christ. In the year 1924 the people bought land to construct a church. In the year 1925 the new church was blessed. Since then The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is dwelling among the people of Kadayal. Sr. Maria Emin ICM was the one to remember very specially in the history of Kadayal. Kadayal was bifurcated from the parish of Kulasekaram in the year 1965. With the blessings of Christ this parish is flurishing. We thank God!
